A) The system sends interested shipping companies automatic email notifications based on keyword matches. The software reads the words entered into the city, state, province, country and shipment fields on the shipping request form. Shipping companies have provided details of where they would like to receive shipping business leads from, and when the system detects word matches, it sends out email notifications. Therefore, it is very important that shippers enter correct spellings in the city, state, province, country and shipment type fields on the shipping request form. Q) How do I register? A) It is free! Shippers can click here. Shipping companies can click here. All you need is an street address and email account. No credit card information is required. Q) Are there any costs or commission fees for shippers? A) It is completely free to post shipping requests on this web site. We make our commissions from shipping companies when they win a shipper's business via the website. Q) What is the web site currency? A) The website allows for shippers to post shipping requests in over 50 world currencies. Q) How long should a shipping request be posted on the website for? A) We suggest shippers post their shipping requests for a minimum of 2 days. The system allows for up to 14 days. The longer the time period a shipper can allow for shipping companies to respond with quotes, the greater the probability the reqeust will attract a wide range of quotes with the most competitive rates. Q) Is it possible to post a request on the system for less than 1 day? A) Yes, on the Post a New Request For Quote (RFQ) page, simply leave the RFQ Listing Duration set at 1 day, backstart the start date field by 1 day, and adjust the start time as required. Q) How do shippers and shipping companies settle accounts once the shipping request is completed? A) Shippers and shipping companies settle accounts privately between themselves. When a shipper selects a quote, the system will send both parties email notifications containing the confirmation details of the shipping transaction, along with telephone and email contact details. We suggest both shippers and shipping companies use PayPal:
PayPal is now available for International users. Use PayPal to settle private party transactions in $USD anywhere in the world! Q) Does ShippingFinder.com enforce agreements arranged via the website? A) Agreements between shippers and shipping companies cannot be enforced nor is the responsibilty of ShippingFinder.com. We merely provide an online venue to assist shippers in finding competitive quotes from a growing community of worldwide shipping companies. Please review the website user agreement for additional details. Q) If there is a problem, can I contact ShippingFinder.com to help me? A) Yes, site members are welcome to contact us to help resolve problems with shipping companies for shipment arranged via the website. We cannot force a decision or dictate corrective actions. We can merely suggest what we feel is appropriate action given the circumstances. In extreme circumstances, we can cancel a shipping company's membership. So there may be situations where we can help influence an outcome, but we offer no assurances. Q) Do I have to select a quote if I place a shipping request on the system? A) Shippers are never obligated to select a quote for shipping requests
placed on the system.
A) Quotes can be selected at any time before the shipping request's expiration date, as well as up to 2 weeks after the shipping request's expiration. The ShippingFinder.com system sends out an email notification each time a shipping company places a quote, as well as upon expiration of the shipping request's listing period. Q) If I accept a quote, must I follow through with the shipment transaction? A) Yes, shippers must follow through with their shipment transaction when a quote is accepted. Although there are no assurances, the shipper stands a better chance of having problems resolved in a satisfactory manner than if they were dealing with a shipping company on a purely private basis. This is because shipping companies value the business leads generated by the ShippingFinder.com website, and may be more likely to respond favourably to customers sourced via the website. If a shipper contacts a shipping company directly and there is a problem with the shipment, the shipper is on their own! Q) How is insurance provided for my shipment? A) When posting a shipping request on the system, the form allows for per item insurance requirements to be presented to the quoting shipping companies. The shipping companies will build the cost of addressing the shipper's insurance requirements into their quotes. ShippingFinder.com does not provide insurance services to shippers. Quoting shipping companies source the necessary insurance cover from their own providers. Q) How do I manage My Account? A) Simply Login to go straight to your Account Manager page. From this page you can view existing RFQs, view completed RFQs, and make changes to your user profile. While logged into the system, all pages on the website appear with a link to the Account Manager on the upper right side of the page. Q) How can I update my email or other contact details? A) Simply Login to go straight to your Account Manager page, where you can update your user profile. Q) How do I change my password? A) Simply Login to go straight to your Account Manager page, and click on the user profile link to update your password. Q) I forgot my password. Can you send it to me? A) Just send us an email with your first and last name, company name if you have one, and your email address. We'll send you your password right away. Q) Can changes be made to a shipping request once it is posted on the system? A) No it is not possible to make changes to a shipping request once posted on the system. It is important to be careful in providing all the shipment details as accurately as possible before posting it to the system. Q) Can shipping requests be deleted from the system? A) Yes, just email us the RFQ confirmation number, along the RFQ origin, destination, and description of shipment. Also include a bried explination as to why the delete request is being made. Q) Can I view the results of my shipping request online? A) Simply Login to go straight to your Account Manager page, where you can view your existing shipping requests and completed shipping requests. Q) Does ShippingFinder deal with freight contracts? A) No, we only assist shippers on a per-shipment basis. Our system allows shippers to
post specific, individual shipping requirements by way of an online waybill. Our system
then notifies potentially interested shipping companies who are invited to issue quotes. Each
online waybill is specific to a given shipment requiring the shipper to provide origin and
destination addresses, exact description of goods, date available for pick up, date required at
destination and so forth.
